GN Solids Control has manufactured various customized mud treating systems for global customers, GN mud treating systems are classified by treating volume, such as 200GPM, 350GPM, 500GPM and 1000GPM. Some larger mud treating systems can be offered based on customers’ demands.
As more and more non dig drilling or horizontal directional drilling companies are demand to treat the drilling slurry, using mud treating system is more and more popular. Generally speaking, GN mud treating or slurry treating systems are composed by the following equipment:
1. Shale shaker
Shale shaker plays the role of scalping shaker to separate all of those large solids or particles in the drilling slurry. Coarse shaker screens are used on the shaker. Based on drilling slurry difference, GN Solids Control also provides opening mesh shaker screens which can be used for a longer time.
Desander is shale shaker fixed with different quantity of 10 inch cyclones. Centrifugal pump provides slurry into the cyclones with a large pressure: low gravity slurry go up and over flow from the upper end of the cyclones, while the high gravity slurry fall off to the bottom shaker. Here shale shaker fixed with GN composite shaker screens for finer solids separation.
Same as desander, GN desilter is shaker assembled with 4 inch cyclones. Desander cyclone is used to separate solids larger than 55 microns, while the 4 inch desilter cyclones can eliminate solids larger than 25 microns. GN cyclones are made by polyurethane in order to have a good wear resistance feature.
It’s a trend more and more customers are using decanter centrifuge to further treating the drilling slurry or mud. Due to the accumulated of finer solids after treated by a long time, GN decanter centrifuges are widely seen in the slurry treating. Sometimes desander or desilter will not be used, one set of coarse shaker or finer shaker will be used to separate out those large solids. For centrifuge, if the feeding size is less than 2mm, then it’s totally OK to treating the slurry directly.
