A Batch of GNSP20B Solids Vacuum Pumps Ready for Shipment

Another batch of GNSP20B solids vacuum pumps has been completed and is ready for shipment from GN.

The solids vacuum pump is a little different from most of the transfer pumps we work with. Rather than relying on a conventional rotating pump assembly, the unit is pneumatically driven and uses vacuum to draw material into the pump before discharging it under positive pressure.

That makes it particularly useful when the material is difficult to handle with a conventional pump.

The GNSP20B can be used to transfer sludge, slurry and other mixtures containing a relatively high concentration of solids. With no rotating components in direct contact with the material being transferred, it is also well suited for abrasive applications where wear can become a concern.

One thing that stands out in these photos is how compact the units are. The pump, controls and associated piping are assembled into a portable frame, allowing the GNSP20B to be moved around a jobsite rather than permanently installed in one location.

Compressed air is required to operate the pump, but electrical power is not required at the pump itself. This can be particularly useful in oil and gas, tank cleaning, environmental cleanup and other applications where electrically driven equipment may not be desirable.

As with most transfer equipment, the material itself matters when selecting a solids vacuum pump. Density, viscosity, solids concentration, particle size and the required transfer distance all need to be considered. Available compressed air is another important part of the equation.

These GNSP20B units are now complete and will soon be on their way to the customer.
