GN Solids Control, a leading provider of solids control and waste management equipment for the oil and gas industry, has successfully manufactured and delivered three sets of Package Mud Desilter Units tailored for offshore platforms in South America. This delivery marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to support efficient and environmentally friendly offshore drilling operations in the region, addressing the critical need for effective wastewater treatment after tank cleaning processes.

Each Package Mud Desilter Unit is primarily composed of the high-performance GNZS752K Desilter and a robust bottom tank, integrating three key functional components to ensure optimal wastewater treatment: the desilter itself, a desilter low-flow screen, and a dedicated mud tank. The GNZS752K Desilter, a core part of the unit, is engineered to efficiently separate fine solid particles from drilling wastewater, with its advanced hydrocyclone design enabling high separation efficiency—critical for meeting the strict environmental standards of offshore operations. The accompanying desilter low-flow screen further enhances solids removal by filtering out smaller impurities, while the mud tank provides a stable storage and processing space for the treated mud, streamlining the overall workflow.

A standout feature of these package units is their innovative design that allows the desilter to be securely placed inside the mud tank during transportation. This not only reduces the overall transportation volume and logistics costs but also minimizes the risk of damage to the equipment during transit— a key consideration for long-distance shipments to offshore platforms in South America. Additionally, all units fully comply with DNV (Det Norske Veritas) lifting requirements, a vital certification for offshore equipment that ensures safe handling and installation in harsh marine environments. This compliance, combined with the unit’s durable construction, makes it highly suitable for the challenging conditions of offshore drilling, where reliability and safety are paramount.

The delivery of these Package Mud Desilter Units comes in response to a growing demand from South American offshore operators for equipment that can enhance operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact. By treating wastewater generated after tank cleaning, the units help prevent the discharge of contaminated fluids into the ocean, aligning with both local environmental regulations and global sustainability goals. GN Solids Control’s team of engineers worked closely with the client to customize the units to meet their specific offshore platform requirements, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and maximum performance.

“Offshore operations in South America require equipment that can withstand extreme conditions while delivering consistent, efficient results,” said a senior representative from GN Solids Control. “Our Package Mud Desilter Units, with their DNV compliance, integrated design, and high-efficiency separation capabilities, are designed to meet these needs. We are proud to support our clients in the region as they work to optimize their drilling processes and reduce their environmental footprint.”

Looking ahead, GN Solids Control plans to continue expanding its presence in the South American offshore market, offering a range of customized solids control and waste management solutions tailored to the unique needs of local operators. With a focus on innovation, quality, and sustainability, the company aims to remain a trusted partner for offshore drilling companies seeking to enhance operational performance and meet environmental obligations.
