GN Synergistic-Frequency Screens for Ore Classification

These GN synergistic-frequency vibrating screens were recently manufactured for fine screening of iron ore.

Fine iron ore can be a difficult screening application. As particle size decreases, maintaining good separation becomes more challenging, particularly when moisture and a high percentage of fines are present. Screen blinding can reduce effective screening area and ultimately limit capacity.

The synergistic-frequency design is intended to address some of these problems by keeping the screening surface active and promoting movement of material across the deck. This helps the finer particles find their way through the screen openings while the larger material continues to discharge.

Looking at the machines themselves, these are substantial units. Each screen uses multiple vibration motors with a large screening surface and heavy structural frame. The screen panels can also be selected according to the required particle separation and characteristics of the material being processed.

For this project, the screens will be used specifically for fine classification of iron ore.

Applications like this are a good example of why screening equipment cannot simply be selected by tons per hour. Particle size distribution, moisture, solids concentration, required cut point and the physical characteristics of the ore all matter.

GN has been doing more work in mineral processing and fine screening, and these units are another example of that expansion.
